Daddy sorted out the blog today, that now means we can post to our blogs from his iPhone. Not only that, but now he has a spare one, we can do it when he’s not around too!
Daddy tried to upgrade the version of wordpress that we use for mine and George’s blogs. This resulted in some serious mess up on his part. Fortunately he had been sensible enough to back everything up first. Needless to say, we are back where we started. If you did try to have a look at mine or George’s sites earlier today, all I can do is apologise for my silly Daddy’s actions.
Daisy pointed out that on the 28th June, I was exactly half George’s age. That will never happen again and it was a milestone that had gone previously unnoticed!
I’ve not posted for a while because I have been concentrating so hard on learning to walk. It’s almost my preferred mode of transport (well, after crawling, the buggy, the car or being carried!). I can walk from room to room now without holding onto anything. I can turn round and come back too.
Old one here
We had a great time over the weekend. I think I like camping, I like sitting around being good as gold while the others cause mischief! I took a bit of time to practice my walking and I managed 4 steps on my own. I’m very pleased about that. Later on I sat on Mummy’s shoulders while watching the steam trains and the choo choo made me jump so much, I nearly fell off!
I’m very defiant now. If someone wants me to do something and I don’t want to (or indeed if they don’t want me to do something and I do want to) I will shake my head and say no before throwing myself to the floor and crying until someone gives in…
Daddy, George and I all went to the park on Friday and met up with Stuart and James and had a fab time playing there. George and James insisted on going down the big slide, but I preferred the smaller but faster one. I also got the opportunity to show off my walking legs. I’m so nearly there now. I actually did take a couple of steps the other day, but am now only doing it when someone is there to hold my hand.
Yesterday was Father’s day. George and I got Daddy a book all about Daddy bear and little bear which is good, because we call Daddy Daddy bear, and he calls us big bear and little bear. We also got him a cuddly teddy bear and George and I put some special bits in him, one from me and one from George. Mine was a heart beat. when Daddy squeezes bear, his heart goes ba-dum, ba-dum, ba-dum. George put in a little voice for him, so when Daddy squeezes his arm, George’s voice says ‘Daddy bear!’
I don’t seem to have got George’s lurgy. I’m a bit grumpy though as I had my MMR jab just over a week ago and I’ve just started feeling a bit groggy from it. I didn’t want to go to sleep last night so I watched Pan’s labyrinth with Mum and Dad. Dad covered my eyes during the gory or scary bits though.
I now walk around the room hanging onto anything I can. I’m also very good at eating my food now without any help, although quite often when I get bored of it, I throw the contents of my bowl onto the floor.
I think I’m becoming a boy (although George still calls me a baby)
I woke up last night around midnight and decided I didn’t want to sleep. I did have a bit of a temperature, but nothing that was causing me any upset. I, however caused Mum and Dad quite a bit of upset by refusing to go back to sleep. I got in their bed with them and was still awake into the small hours. Then just to make things worse, I woke up at 6am, bright as a button.
Last night I went straight to sleep when Dad put me in my cot at 7 o’clock. At 9.30 I decided that I was no longer tired. I sat up in my cot and shouted for someone to come and get me out. Dad took me into the office (in the house, not at work) to try to get me to settle, but I was having none of it. In the end we went downstairs and I sat with Mum, but I still wasn’t going to sleep. Anyway, Mum got tired and went to bed so I played with Dad until about midnight. One of the things I like to do now is stand up and let go of everything, just to see how long I can stand on my own. Last night I got plenty of practice so am getting good at it now.
This morning when I woke up (at 5.30) in Mum and Dad’s bed, I started practicing that again. I don’t think Dad was very happy about it as he said he’d not had much sleep. Pah, sleep is for losers!
We went to Worthing yesterday. It’s the first time I’ve been back there since I was first born. I saw Mandy and Terry and I haven’t seen them since I was a couple of weeks old! I took quite a shine to big Tel and wanted a fair few cuddles from him until it was time to go for a walk and then I wanted my buggy! Mummy and Mandy pushed me along the prom talking about art and fancy stuff while the bigger boys (Daddy, Terry and George) talked about beer and worms.
We all went to Stanmer park for a picnic along with Dad’s side of the family. We had a lovely time, it was very hot and I had to put on lots of sun cream. Uncle Ralph had a big aeroplane that you pumped up with air and then started the propeller. Needless to say, that although it was very impressive, no one went home with it, and it is still up a big tree!
As well as walking, crawling and sliding, I’ve recently started kissing people. This involves me moving my head somewhere near theirs and making a lovely ‘Mwah’ sound. It keeps Mum and Dad and George entertained for hours!
I’ve been watching people walking and crawling etc and have taken it all in. I’d never really bothered doing any of it myself, but the other day at nursery I crawled over to the play area and crawled up the stairs, through the tunnel and slid down the slide. I also thought it was about time I stood up on my own, so over the weekend I stood up with my walker and wandered across the lounge. Everyone has been a bit shocked to be honest!
I can stand with my walker now. I still can’t get there on my own, but if Mummy or Daddy stand me up, I can manage a couple of very tentative steps.
Here is a photo of me on my birthday. I’m wearing quite a snazzy shirt, I’m sure you’ll agree.

I’m getting pretty good at it now. I got all the way around the room yesterday. I’ve also started to favour sleeping on my front now that I’m a bit more mobile, and now that my chicken pox are clearing up. I’m sleeping very well too.
Daddy went away yesterday for a week and I chose today of all days to start crawling. He missed it. Still, I did shout Dada down the phone to him when he phoned up, which is more than George did.
Well, it had to happen I suppose. I’ve gone and caught chicken pox. Daddy noticed one on my tummy last night after Mum had gone out and so he’s taken today off work to look after me. Today I have a few more appearing but the one on my tummy has already been well and truly picked off! Every time Daddy has changed my nappy today I’ve managed to pick it and now it’s gone!
It’s not all good news for Daddy either, he woke up this morning and couldn’t open his right eye. He has conjunctivas it would seem. He had to go to the doctor today to get some drops for it. I hope it clears up before his electrician course on Monday.
Who needs to crawl anyway. I’m damn fast on my bum now! I like to shuffle over and hide behind a door and just poke my head round so Mummy, Daddy or George can just see me. It makes me giggle.
It appears that mine and George’s sites are now back up to “full speed ahead cap’n”. Daddy moaned at the hosting company yesterday and it seems to have done the trick.
What a great weekend, Saturday was fun and it was of course my birthday yesterday, so the plan was to go to Drusillas for the day. We were all set to go when there was a small flurry of snow. Then that turned into a blizzard and we decided to change the plan, so we went over the road onto the green and made a snowman with Amy and the other George and Oliver from across the road. I got a bit cold though, so I went back indoors to warm up. After that we went to the pub for lunch but I fell asleep throughout the whole meal. I woke up as we were leaving and decided I was hungry. Handy for Dad as it meant he got to have another pint while I had my dinner. In the afternoon, Charlotte came over and we had cake and fun at home. By the end of the day I was very tired but couldn’t sleep so I cuddled up with Mum on the sofa until about 10 o’clock. I blame my lack of settling on my jabs that I had on Friday.
I can pull myself up now. I did it today at nursery. I’m very pleased with myself. Next step is to start cruising. One day at a time…
Seems that the money I’ve been investing hasn’t done as well as it could. I’ve actually got less now that I started with. Still, I’ll hang on in there, after all, it’s meant to be a long term investment and I’m not even one yet!
Mum, George and I are all off to see Grandad Ralph today. He hasn’t seen us in a while so I would imagine he’ll be quite impressed by how much I’ve grown up. Maybe I will show off and stand up for him today (I will still need help getting into a standing position, but with the aid or a sofa to hang on to I can stay upright for ages).
Mummy, George and I went to see Granny and Grandad at the weekend and Daddy stayed at home to install the new bath. He had ripped out the old one before we went away on holiday and had got Mark from next door to plaster the walls while we were away. When we got home, there was a nice shiny new bath in place with some rather neater plumbing that was previously there! The only problem is that there is no sink at the moment so we all have to brush our teeth downstairs.
I’ve overcome my illness now and went back to nursery for the first time today in two weeks. I think they were amazed at ow much I’ve come along since I was last there. Now I say ‘Da da’ and I can feed myself a lot better. Also I’m able to bum shuffle at a good pace now. So much so, that Mum and Dad can’t assume I’ll be roughly were there left me anymore. I could be anywhere!
